As well as the obvious things we do- like answering the phones, manning the reception area and processing prescriptions – between us we do so many other things as well.
For example we: Process insurance claims, book mother/baby post-natal checks, organise contraceptive and minor op clinics, register new patients, return & receive paper records from the health authority, cull & summarise new records received, liaise with hospitals, mental health clinics, hospices, coroners, undertakers, pharmacies, social services to name a few! We also send out patient reminders for regular reviews, such as diabetes and asthma, process and check emails, responsible for ensuring the surgery’s security and of course supply endless cuppas to whoever may need one!
The list is obviously not exhaustive but may help you appreciate that work is varied, interesting and demanding. We never have nothing to do!
Most importantly the job is rewarding, and we always aim to greet you with a smile and friendly voice. You, the patients, are the reason why our job matters to us.
